Vegan Comfort Food Classics: Part I – Pizza

I love pizza. I have always loved pizza and when I first went vegan, I thought that I might have to give it up. I’ve been vegan for almost 6 years now and I have some great news for you… I have not given up pizza at all! In fact, I have found some really amazing spots vegan pizza spots that don’t make me miss regular pizza at all. Today, I want to share with you three of these places so that you too can enjoy the beauty that is vegan pizza. Enjoy!

  1. Blaze Pizza

My Order: Veg Out Pizza with vegan cheese instead of mozzarella& gorgonzola, kalamata olives, roasted garlic, and arugula.

This has to be some of my favorite pizza I have ever had, hands down. Seriously, this pizza is ridiculously good. Any time my friends and I are trying to find a place to eat, I will always mention Blaze. Not only is their pizza super affordable ($8 for a pizza with all the toppings you want), but the ingredients are fresh really really delicious. I also love this place because it’s a great option for when you’re going out with friends who aren’t vegan or vegetarian. Blaze caters to many eating styles, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free just to name a few. Speaking of eating preferences, if you say that you’re vegan or you’re getting a vegan pizza, the employees will offer to change their gloves so that there is no cross-contamination. How cool is that?

2. Whole Foods

My Order: Vegan cheese, spinach, tomatoes, onions, olives, artichoke, garlic & mushrooms.

Whole Foods really does has some awesome pizza and it’s not as expensive as you might think. Out of the three pizza places I’ll talk about today, WF has the biggest slices which are always a good thing. Their pizza is fresh and very high quality, plus they have a wide range of vegan pizzas that they cycle through. What I love about WF pizza that the other places don’t have is that Whole Foods has pizza slices ready made all throughout the day. If you’re stopping by a Whole Foods for lunch, you won’t have to wait around for your pizza to be made because it’s already there. Also, their styles of pizza are unique and always changing. I’ve seen vegan Margherita (soooo good), vegan bbq chicken, plain cheese, fresh veggie, buffalo cauliflower etc.

Moral of the story, Whole Foods pizza is always a good idea.

3. Fresh Brothers

My Order: Vegan cheese, broccoli, tomatoes, onions, garlic, black olives, artichoke & mushrooms.

I recently tried a Fresh Brothers vegan pizza with one of my coworkers a few weeks back and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Not that I thought it would be bad, I just didn’t expect it to be that good. The veggies were fresh and crisp, the cheese was delicious, and the crust! I would say that out of these three, Fresh Brothers has the best crust hands down.  Fresh Brothers is definitely the most expensive out of the three I mention today, but it’s so worth it when considering the quality of the pizza. Not only is the pizza delicious, but they take their vegan customers seriously just as Blaze does. They really make sure that everything they use in your pizza is vegan. You won’t have to worry about butter or regular cheese sneaking on to your pizza. The box is even sealed with a “vegan” sticker.

That’s my list for today! I hope you all enjoy and that you get a chance to test out some of these places. Also, let me know in the comments what some of your favorite vegan pizza spots are!

Stay Fabulous,

Gianna
